Two Lights. One Lineage.
Zero Compromises.

For Spring 2026, Olight has reimagined its legendary Baton series from the ground up. The result is a pair of compact EDC flashlights that share dual-switch control, hidden USB-C charging, and a 3,500 mAh 18650 battery capable of running up to 100 days in moonlight mode — but diverge sharply in materials, output, and purpose.

The Baton Ultra is Olight’s flagship compact: 1,800 lumens, 300-meter throw, a self-developed EIP 1 LED, and a proprietary O-Aluminum superalloy body. The Baton 4 Pro delivers a still-impressive 1,600 lumens and 200-meter range in a proven 6061 aluminum build — at $30 less.

Both are IPX8-rated, sub-4.5-inch pocketable tools with identical five-mode side switches and tactical tail switches for instant High/Turbo access. This comparison breaks down every spec so you can choose the Baton that fits your carry.

LED Technology

Self-Developed EIP 1: A New Standard in Beam Quality

The Baton Ultra is the first compact Olight to feature the in-house EIP 1 LED — a non-uniform electrode design delivering roughly 10% higher luminous efficiency at high power compared to leading competitors. With an ultra-low Duv below 0.006 across all modes, the beam produces a crystal-clear, pure white light remarkably close to natural daylight.

The Baton 4 Pro uses a proven 15W LED that delivers 1,600 lumens of reliable, well-regulated output with a smooth TIR beam pattern well-suited for close-to-mid-range work.

Materials & Build

O-Aluminum Superalloy vs 6061 Aerospace Grade

The Baton Ultra is built from Olight’s proprietary O-Aluminum (OAL™) — a superalloy claimed to deliver nearly twice the strength and significantly higher abrasion resistance than standard 6061-T6 aluminum. It carries a 2.0-meter drop rating and is engineered for daily wear and outdoor punishment.

The Baton 4 Pro uses tried-and-true 6061 aluminum with a hard-anodized finish and aggressive knurling. It’s rated for 1.5-meter drops and has proven durability for everyday carry. Both are IPX8-rated for continuous submersion.

User Interface

Dual Switches for Instant, Intuitive Control

Both Batons share the same innovative dual-switch system. The concave side switch provides access to all five brightness levels (Moonlight, Low, Medium, High, Turbo) — easy to find by touch, even with gloves on.

The textured tail switch adds instant access to High and Turbo modes with both momentary-on and constant-on options — perfect for tactical use or quick bursts of light. Color-coded indicators (white for brightness, green for battery) and laser micro-perforated lockout icons round out the interface.

Power & Charging

MCC Magnetic + Hidden USB-C: Charge Anywhere

Both models run on 3.6V 3,500 mAh 18650 rechargeable batteries with identical charging options. The magnetic MCC charger snaps to the tail for effortless desktop charging, while a hidden USB-C port — revealed by rotating the finely textured tailcap ring — lets you top off from any standard cable, power bank, or vehicle port.

This dual-charging approach finally addresses one of the longest-running requests from the Olight community: no more being stranded if you lose the proprietary magnetic cable.

The Verdict

The Baton Ultra is the clear performance king — its EIP 1 LED delivers meaningfully cleaner beam quality, 12% more lumens, and 50% more throw range. The O-Aluminum body is notably tougher, and at the flash sale price of $84.99, the premium feels well justified for anyone who wants the absolute best compact EDC Olight has ever made.

The Baton 4 Pro, however, is the smarter buy for most people. At just $59.49 during this flash sale, you get 1,600 lumens, the same dual-switch system, identical battery life, three color options, and a rock-solid 6061 aluminum body. The performance gap in daily use is marginal — the value gap isn’t. Both carry Olight’s lifetime warranty and will serve you for years.
